Chief Dan
Etete, the former fugitive minister of petroleum resources and also a
former senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, has been lodged in
Aguda House for the past four months by the federal government. He
stays in the room that was reserved for Queen Elizabeth when she
visited Nigeria several months back. And, since he started staying
there a good number of very top government officials have visited him,
amongst the noticeable people that interacted with him are, Mallam
Nasir EL-Rufai, Nuhu Ribadu, Peter Odili, Oby Ezekwesili just to
mention a very few. The plan is to get Dan Etete to do a very dirty
job, by mudslinging the integrity and credibility of vice president,
Atiku Abubakar in a very shameful and unprofessional advertorial on
AIT.
And, because of the way and manner he carried out
the smear campaign job that was given to him, president Obasanjo
promised him the gubernatorial ticket of Bayelsa State under the aegis
of the People’s Democratic Party. This is because the president is not
happy with the no love lost between, Governor Goodluck Jonathan and
Timi Aliagbe over who win the election in 2007. The thinking of the
president is that he understand the terrain very since, he has being
in the oil industry for a long time, and would therefore be in a good
position to deal with the restiveness of the youths as well as hostage
taking.
However, what is curious is that, this is the
same Dan Etete who could not come into the country in 2002 because,
INTERPOL had declared him wanted, so, why has he suddenly become the
darling of the government to the extent that he is given a first class
treatment with a retinue of cars, aides and other perks as well as
perquisites
