It has long being expected and penultimate Wednesday;
the President Obasanjo took the political pundits,
watchers and the entire people of this great
country
by surprise with his submission to the
Senate of a
memo seeking for the scrutiny of the upper
chamber of
the National Assembly on what he perceived
as the
corrupt tendency of the Vice-President Atiku
Abubakar
that can ultimately led to his impeachment.
Well, a lot have been said by this writer,
and other
public affairs commentators that the
President is bend
in doing away with the Vice-President that
he is not
keen in handing over the reign of this
country to him
come 2007.
The bottom line have being drawn by the two
most
leaders of this country and their fued has
reach the
breaking point; there is nothing that can be
done
about the relationship between the President
and his
“hand bag”now. The indictment of the
Vice-President
Atiku by the administrative panel which was
chaired by
the Attorney-General of the Federation is
not weighty
as to led to the President finding ways for
the
impeachment of the Vice-President.
Whatever the Vice-President owned, the
President is in
the picture for the simple fact that it is
the same
President that lay the foundation of the
construction
of Abti University during the ground
breaking ceremony
of the University in Yola that was witnessed
by those
that matters in the country.
The Vice-President Atiku has to grip the
reality on
ground that after showing absolute loyalty
to the
President and at the same time displaying
his
political clout that ensure their success in
the
election of 1999 and 2003, the President is
paying
back by disparaging him and casting a heavy
aspersion
on the Vice-President by portraying him as a
corrupt
public servant.
After the defeat of the third term, I know
that the
President would roar back as a wounded lion
that can
crush anything on his way and this is the
beginning.
Anyway, for the purpose of clarity and
objectivity,
there is nothing wrong for one to associate
with
friends who are businessmen-because reading
through
the EFCC report, one of the accusation is
that the
Vice-President Atiku Abubakar use his
position to
assist Chief Fasawe and Chief Mike Adenuga
with public
funds. What is the President Obasanjo going
to say
about the two prominent Nigerian businessmen
that one
give #250 million as donation to his
Presidential
library and one constructing a block of
classroom at
his Bell University?
If the President Obasanjo is to be honest
with
himself, there is the need for him to
clarified the
bogging question surrounding the newly
incorporated
company ”TRANSCORP” as there is insinuation
that he
hold 20% blank share in the company.
The President Obasanjo has done a
devastating blow on
the north in spite of the fact that it is
northerners
that rallied around him in 1999 and
persuaded him to
stand for election and they firmly stood and
stomp
their feet to ensure his success-people like
Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Gen. Ibrahim
Babangida
and many others too numerous to mention in
this
discourse.
But, today, they do not fear in the good
book of Chief
Aremu as he is all out to see that they are
politically finished. As a real witness, to
what
happened in Jos in the convention that saw
Obasanjo
emerging as the PDP Presidential candidate
against Dr.
Elex Ekweume and what also happened in Abuja
where the
Vice-President Atiku was being persuaded to
stand
against the President but, out of respect
refuses I
find it incomprehensible that the President
is
fighting almost all those that helped him to
become
what he is today.
The Vice-President Atiku had no any
alternative than
to fought back by full force to redeemed his
image
that have being battered by the recent
action of the
President even, if, there is the possibility
that the
President is not quite dispose of having him
as the
President of the country.
The Vice-President Atiku should galvanize
his teeming
supporters across the land and emphatically
told them
as to his next line of action because the
period that
remains for the man from otta to hand over
is less
than eight month- it has to be fight to
finish between
the President and Vice-President.
Pressure is increasingly on for the
Vice-President to
declare his stand but, for the respect he
had for Mr.
President, he follow it in a very polite
manner devoid
of any misdemeanor and at the end, the
President is
now disgracing the Vice-President in the
eyes of the
world.
